SAMANTHA POWER MEETS PRESIDENT BIYA AND THE PRIME MINISTER.

The US Visiting Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Powers have been received in audience at the Presidency of the Republic.

The over two hours audience was focused on ways of strengthening bilateral ties; reinforcing support on the fight against Boko Haram and Climate change.

Samantha Power was accompanied by a powerful delegation including the US Ambassador to Cameroon Michael Stephen Hosa.

Talking about the fight against insecurity Samantha Powers said the military response alone cannot succeed in defeating Boko Haram in the long-term.

She however called on the Cameroonian Government to increase economic investment across the Regions and that security forces who are considered as the main activists in the fight against Human Rights are respecting the human rights of the population

Moreover, those issues on climate change should be taken seriously by all irrespective of their gender and status.

The President and his guest also exchange a number of gifts.

At the Prime Minister’s Office, the visiting Diplomat transmitted the same message on the fight against terrorism.

She was accompanied by the United States Ambassador to Cameroon, Michael Stephen Hoza; the Deputy Secretary of African Affairs, Bruce Whartson; the Commander of the Special Operations Command for Africa, Brigadier General Donald Bolduc amongst others.
